Anyone else notice this summer was more hot and dry than the last summer, which was also abnormally hot and dry? With changing climate patterns throughout the world, seed companies can monopolize on the idea of a vibrant diverse and strong garden, but where are those heirloom variety seeds coming from? Do they come from plants from the previous season in our area that got through the extreme heat and dry? Have they been bred to not produce viable seeds by the end of the season? There are a lot of tricks used by BIG SEED to make the common garden enthusiast think the best seed for their garden is just a click and a shipment away. However, the most reliable and strong crop you can get is from using locally sourced seeds from your own community. Local seeds carry memory of the previous season, slightly altering and adapting to better thrive in the worsening hot and dry season. SO GUESS WHAT?! you’re invited to a special seed swap event! Totally free! Bring some seeds to trade or just come with enthusiasm! @triage____ Matcha will be slinging the smoothest matcha in town while @Plant_Portals will have their plant elixirs and goods available for purchase. @drinkWalkerbrothers kombucha has donated a few cases of their NA flavors, free while supplies last! @wondergiftgarden has graciously donated a flowering perennial plant that we will be raffling off! $1 gets your name in the hat, enter as many time as you’d like! All proceeds from raffle will be donated to @brooklynheightsgarden in North Nashville. October 25 11-3 See ya there !
