Join the Resistance Revival Chorus Nashville for a training on de-escalation and safety for performers, followed by an open rehearsal for Resistance Revival Chorus Nashville. Open to anyone!
Community safety is everyone’s responsibility!
Musicians often show up on the front lines of movements for justice at rallies, vigils, community gatherings, and civic actions. When we gather in public spaces, it’s important that we also build the skills to keep one another safe.
Nashville Musicians for Change and Resistance Revival Chorus is partnering with Drkmttr Social Club to provide a community de-escalation and safety training for artists and musicians who want to learn how to respond to tense situations with care, clarity, and collective responsibility.
This training will cover:
- recognizing early signs of escalation in crowds
- verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques
- situational awareness in public action
- grounding ourselves and others during moments of conflict
- using music as a disruptor
This training will be facilitated by experienced community safety organizers who have coordinated safety teams and served as liaisons at civic engagement events across Nashville for the past decade.
Over the years Nashville Musicians For Change has organized and supported civic engagement through music at protests, rallies, community gatherings, vigils, and actions advocating for equity and justice for all with a goal to use music to strengthen our voices and the communities we show up for.
As musicians continue to participate in public actions and community spaces, we want to make sure we are equipped with the tools to care for each other, de-escalate harm, and help create safer environments for everyone present while also honoring that music itself can be a powerful and beautiful disruptor in moments that call for courage, presence, and collective voice.
This training centers the safety of marginalized communities including undocumented people, trans people, and protestors. Participants are expected to respect confidentiality and not share identifying information about attendees.
Space for this training may be limited.
Please fill out the form below if you’re interested in attending.
This training is designed for community members and artists.
Participation from law enforcement is not permitted.
